Case Overview:

A 66 year old man had a long history of chronic sinusitis and nasal polyposis. During the surgery they found that the patient had extensive ethmoid and maxillary disease with intranasal polyposis, during the ethmoidectomy there was a cerebral spinal fluid (CSF) leak that was immediately repaired. The plaintiff is claiming that the CSF leak led to complications such as photophobia, headaches and vertigo. The illustrations were used by the defense to show the relationship of the anatomy and how this is a recognized risk of the procedure. The jury found in favor of the defense.
